We install central heating systems using the highest quality boilers from Grant for Oil fired systems and, Worcester Bosch and Gloworm for Gas fired systems. We can design and install entire central heating systems which will be tailored to both you and your property’s specific needs. All homes are fully assessed room by room to calculate the heat requirements and radiators sized accordingly. We can offer a wide range of radiator types to suit your individual needs. Below is a description of the various different types of systems you can now choose from.Combination Boilers
A combi boiler provides heating and hot water directly from the boiler. A combi (or combination) boiler is an ingenious space-saving idea, and an increasingly popular choice in UK homes. In fact, combis now account for well over half of all the new domestic boilers installed in Britain every year. A combi boiler is both a high-efficiency water heater and a central heating boiler, combined (hence the name) within one compact unit. Therefore, no separate hot water cylinder is required, offering space saving within the property. Further benefits of a combi boiler are significant savings on hot water costs and the fact that hot water is delivered through your taps or shower at mains pressure. So you can enjoy powerful showering* without the need for a pump. Another combi boiler benefit is that it can generally save you money on installation time and costs, since no tank in the roof space means less pipe work and a shorter installation time. Downsides of a combi are restricted hot water flow meaning they are suited to a smaller home where only one bath, shower or tap is used at any time. It also means in the event of your boiler developing a fault you are left with no hot water.Regular Boilers
Regular boilers heat your central heating system directly and produce hot water for your cylinder. If you are replacing an older model of boiler, the chances are that you will have a regular (also known as ‘conventional’) boiler. A typical regular boiler system incorporates a boiler, extended controls, a hot water cylinder which is often fed by a cold water storage cistern located in the loft and a feed and expansion cistern - also located in the loft. Regular boilers – sometimes referred to as traditional or conventional boilers – are suitable for homes that already have a traditional heating and hot water system that requires a separate hot water cylinder. Regular boilers also require a cold water storage cistern to feed the hot water cylinder and an expansion cistern in the loft. They are a good option for any home where a large volume of stored hot water is required e.g. homes with two or more bathrooms, or in areas where the water pressure is low.System Boilers
Both a system boiler and a regular boiler work on the principle of stored hot water – but a system boiler is different in two important ways. Firstly, many of the components of the heating and hot water system are built into the boiler itself, making it quicker and easier to install. Secondly, it doesn’t need a feed and expansion vessel in the loft. There are two kinds of cylinder which this type of system may have – a mains pressure hot water cylinder or a low pressure hot water cylinder. They are also compatible with solar water heating systems to bring you the added benefits of environmentally friendly hot water and reduced hot water and heating costs.
